The hardest part, getting in the door

The first person you will probably meet is Amanda.

Amanda is if a Golden Retriever was a person….and jacked. She is genuinely very excited to meet you. She or one of our other coaches will talk to you about where you are on your fitness journey. That could be anything from “I currently compete in the CrossFit Games” to “the last time I worked out was in 7th grade when someone made me run a mile.” If you can identify a dumbbell in a line up you are already doing good, but not a deal breaker if you can’t.

One-on-Ones for Learning the Basic

We will do a few one-on-one sessions with you to teach you the basic movements we use at CrossFit Liquid, what all the words mean that the coaches use, and how to be safe and effective in your workout. After a few one-on-one sessions it’s time to jump into a class. Don’t worry, you aren’t on your own. The greatest thing about CrossFit is the coach will be helping you figure out exactly what is best for you.

Individual Instruction in Every Class

At the start of the class the coach will talk about what movements you will be doing in the workout, what weight to use, how many reps of each movement, and how long it should take. They will give you a specific warm up the whole class will do and then go over each of the movements.

If you are doing something wrong, picked a weight that is too heavy or too light, or aren’t ready to do one of the movements yet, the coach will let you know and give you exactly what you should do. They will be doing this for everyone in the class.

When you look around you will see everyone is doing a slightly different version of the same movements based on where they are. Some people may be using dumbbells instead of a barbell. Some people are using a really heavy weight on the barbell. Some people are jumping onto a really high box. Some people are stepping onto a plate that is only 2″ tall. The key is everyone is pushing themselves and getting a good workout for what their body needs at that time.

Community and Accountability

It will be tough and you will be out of breath. Everyone will give each other fist bumps and high fives. It doesn’t matter if you had the fastest or slowest time, the most reps or the least, if you put effort into your workout, everyone will recognize that as a win.

There is a good chance there is someone in the class you have something in common with. Lots of people like to chat before and after class. Maybe they work in the same place or are going to the same concert next weekend. People tend to go to the same class times so you build friendships and just have someone to check in with when you show up to class. They care if you aren’t at class. You care if they aren’t at class. Next thing you know you have a community and friends that help you stick with it and it becomes fun.

It becomes something you look forward to getting to do instead of something you feel like you have to do. All because one day you decided to check out CrossFit Liquid and signed up for a free trial.
